Transformation 280310

Transformation, this is an important development and helps explain what my practice is about, it came to me while reading an article in my set aside time for exactly that purpose. Fire is about transformation, renewal, re-birth. Its not about the end but about the passage from one state to the next, the transformation from one state of being to another, the movement from form to pure energy; from form to consciousness. Death is the name given to what people see as the end but i am more concerned about the movement between states that death entails. This of course involves a philosophical buy-in, one must buy-into this general idea to follow my trajectory. My work engages with this passage from the here and now to the infinite.

Certain moments where we seem to leave our bodies (transcend) or perhaps act unconsciously imply this sense of a beyond. I have been trying to make sense of my fascination with the unconscious and work like Gregory Crewsdon and this might be it - it illustrates this beyond - and shows people "within it" yet still "within" this world. In a kind of in-between state. This is a new way for me to read this work, it actually seems to explain my engagement with some other artists work. I am keen to go back and see if I can read this work in this way and see where that leads me to with my own work.

This GONZO series here on this blog opened this idea of passage up, slipping between states of being, touching the untouchable, explaining the unexplainable, the Sublime...again it comes back to this, which is a relief somehow as I feel now I am working through some of these fundamental questions such as what is the Sublime? What is my reading of it? How does my work engage with it? Some of this is starting to unravel now.
